is it a good idea to get a syberian husky as a pet in my apartment?
in my apartment i can keep a pet as long as its under 200 pounds so the land lord is not problem
but im concerned that this pet is agressive and will harm me (im 5 feet 1in and weigh 96 lb)
so are they good pets
The dog won’t necessarily be aggressive, but it will need A LOT of exercise. I have a dog in an apartment and would not recommend it UNLESS:
a) You take the dog for at least 2 walks per day in the morning & before or after dinner. For that breed you want to have the walks add up to AT LEAST an hour and a half but I would do an hour run in the morning and an hour walk in the evening.
b) You take the dog to the dog park for at least an hour a day to socialize and play with other dogs.
c) You aren’t leaving the dog alone in the apartment (in a crate or otherwise) more than 5 hours a day.
Huskies need a lot of exercise and I am putting that lightly. It seems like you should do a little more research on the breed before you consider taking one in.
I will get TD for this, but I don’t see why so many people are against the RIGHT owners having the RIGHT dogs in apartments. My dog is socialized daily with all the other dogs in the building (which depending on how many he sees can be over 5 a day just at home out for potty breaks & walks), gets at least 2 hours to run a day between my walks and the dog park, and is completley house trained at 5 months (no puppy pads!) I can understand the objection to a siberian in an apartment but take offense when people say “no dogs should be in an apartment”.
